Fall Classroom Party Ideas 1

Our 1st grade team originally created class rotations just for the Christmas holidays. The rotating activities were such a hit with our students and parents, that we decided to use a rotation system for other holidays! They work for any holiday where your students lose focus and need short periods with engaging activities:

  • Halloween (or Fall)
  • Thanksgiving
  • Christmas
  • Valentines Day
  • Easter
  • End of the Year

What are Rotations?

Each teacher plans one fall classroom party activity that will last about the same amount of time. We usually planned for 30-40 minutes for each activity.

Yes, each teacher has just one activity to plan! Get the plan ready, the materials ready, and welcome the classes!

Then a schedule needs to be made. Sticking to the schedule is important, otherwise you will have a class of squirrely students waiting in the hall for you to open your door.

Our schedule looked something like this:

How to use the editable schedule:

  1. Just open the file in PowerPoint, select 3, 4, or 5 teachers (you may also add a row and column in this editable form. It uses table formatting.).
  2. Enter Teacher names and time columns.
  3. Each teacher plans one activity that will last for the time period selected.
  4. On party day, students carry their pencils, crayons, and other materials required for all activities.
  5. Teachers admit students at the scheduled time, complete the activity/game, and dismiss students to go to the next classroom.
  6. Repeat the activity until the teacher has his/her own students back (this will be their last rotation).
