Spring Themed Directed Drawing and Writing Activities
Spring is testing season in many schools, so it’s a great time to practice following directions and using step-by-step instructions to guide them. If they don’t follow the steps, their drawing may not turn out quite right!
Directed drawing activities can also be used as a reward for finishing brain-taxing spring assessments.
Take a look at the fun spring drawings:
Use the included PowerPoint Presentation so the class can see the drawing steps and complete the drawing together!
Independent Drawing
Once students have completed a couple directed drawing activities, they may be ready to work independently in centers, for morning work, after testing completion, or anytime!
Students can also use the included center cards that have the same step-by-step instructions that are included on the PowerPoints and the independent sheets.
Summer Themed Directed Drawing and Writing Activities

Whether you are finishing off the school year, teaching summer school, or needing activities at home over the summer, these summer-themed directed drawing prompts are perfect!
We made sure that each step included only simple additions to each drawing so young artists weren’t too overwhelmed.
Choose from full-page drawing activities with step-by-step instructions on top, PowerPoint slides with steps, or these center cards you see on the left.
All options help with spatial relations in drawing and with guiding students to draw proportionally.
Did we mention how drawing and coloring help with writing skills?
Each seasonal unit includes creative writing or even report writing opportunities for students. They simply glue their drawing to the top of their writing project and you have an instant bulletin board!
Half-page and full-page writing paper is included depending on your students’ writing skills.
